Emerge started offering Anger Management services in 2002. The anger management program is designed for people who have:
Been violent in a barroom brawl or other fights with strangers
Resisted arrest and gotten into fights with police officers, when the arrest charge did not involve domestic violence
Road rage issues
Low-grade anger toward everyone, but are not abusive in their relationships
Been required to complete an anger management group by the court or child protective services (DCF)
The Anger Management program is not suitable for people who are abusive in intimate partner relationships. Abuse in a relationship can include the use of anger. People enrolled in the Abuser Education group may also participate in the Anger Management program if they have anger issues outside of their intimate partner relationships.
Emerge conducts phone screenings of people who are interested in anger management services in order to make an initial determination of their appropriateness for the program.
The Emerge Anger Management program consists of 14 sessions, and it is offered in individual or group sessions, depending on enrollment numbers. Orientations for the Anger Management program are by appointment only. To set up an orientation, please call our office at 617-547-9879.
